Coverage is automatically continued for subscribers who qualify for LTD benefits upon notification by MOSERS or another retirement system. Subscriber will be billed at the LTD rate on a monthly basis. To determine the rate, log in to myMCHCP and use the premium calculator. If premiums are not paid, coverage ends on the last day of the month of active employment or when premium was paid in full.

LTD-eligible employees and their dependents may elect coverage within 31 days of approval for LTD benefits by providing:

Vested LTD subscribers who become ineligible for disability benefits will have continuous coverage as a terminated vested subscriber. Coverage for non-vested LTD subscribers who become ineligible for disability benefits is terminated and the members are offered COBRA.

LTD-eligible employees whose spouse is an active state employee or retiree may transfer coverage under their spouse, and they may transfer back to their own coverage at a later date as long as coverage is continuous. If the employee returns to work, they and their state employee spouse must be covered individually.

If coverage was not maintained while on disability, enrollment may take place upon retirement.
