Active employees and covered dependents generally do not need to enroll in Medicare Part B. Medicare-eligible members who are not actively employed should enroll in Medicare Part B.

Medical Plans

Non-Medicare Plans:

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan
    [a qualified high deductible plan]
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
  • TRICARE Supplement Plan
    [for qualified military members]

Medicare Plan:

  • Medicare Advantage Plan
    [for Medicare-eligible non-active MCHCP members]

Prescription coverage is included with medical plan enrollment.

Prescription Drug Plans

Non-Medicare Plan
Non-Medicare members are covered automatically with MCHCP medical plan enrollment.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP)
The Medicare PDP is a Medicare Part D Plan with expanded prescription coverage. Medicare members are covered automatically with Medicare Advantage plan enrollment.

Dental Plan

Comprehensive dental benefits include: diagnostic and preventive services, basic and restorative services, and major services through a nationwide network of participating providers. There is a one-year wait period for major services.

The cost of dental insurance is paid by the employee.

Vision Plan

Vision benefits include: routine exams, allowances for lenses and frames or contact lenses.

The cost of vision insurance is paid by the employee.

Strive Employee Life & Family (SELF)

SELF is a confidential counseling and referral service that can help the employee and their family successfully deal with life’s challenges.

SELF services are available at no cost to the member.

Strive for Wellness®

Strive for Wellness® is a program launched by MCHCP to encourage members to live healthier. The program includes wellness incentives and other resources.

Must be registered on myMCHCP to participate.


MCHCP provides appeal rights as required by law.

Coordination of Benefits (COB)

Benefits payable by MCHCP medical plans are subject to coordination of benefits to prevent overlapping payments and claim delays.


The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), a federal law, requires MCHCP to offer temporary coverage to members when coverage under the plan would otherwise end.

Special COBRA enrollment deadlines and premiums apply.
